Online Used Car Auctions Versus Live Used Car ... - Cars on Auction

Article by Hitesh Bhoi

Are you interested in buying a used car? If you are, have you ever thought about buying a used car from an auto auction? Buying a used car through an auto auction, which is also commonly referred to as a used auction, is a great way to find a large selection of quality, reliable, yet affordable used cars for sale.

When it comes to buying a used car from a used , you will find that you have a number of different options. Two of your most common options include attending a live used car auction or participating in an online used car auction. If this is your first time attempting to buy a used car from an auto auction, you may be unsure as to which type of used car auction you should choose. When it comes to making a decision, it is best if you first take the time to familiarize yourself with both online auto auctions and live auto auctions.

As you likely already know, online used are auto auctions that take place over the internet. These auctions, themselves, come in a number of different formats. For instance, it is possible to buy a used car from an online auction website. Over the past few years, the popularity of online auction websites has skyrocketed. That is what has led many car owners to list their used cars for sale online. The only downside to doing so is that you honestly know nothing about the car seller. It can be difficult, if not completely impossible, to tell if they even have the for sale car in their possession. Also, online auction websites allow car owners from all across the country sell cars online. While this does give you a larger selection of cars to choose from, it can make the delivery costly.

Another type of online auto auction that you should be able to find online is auto auctions that are operated by traditional auction houses or companies. Due to the popularity of the internet, a large number of auction owners are rethinking the way that they do business. Many are now starting to replace their live auctions with online auctions and many are even deciding to do both. When an auction house or company decides to have an online used , they often do so right on their own webpage. What is nice about participating in this type of auction is that you should be able to find a local auction company. This would make the delivery of the vehicle in question easier and it may give you the opportunity to stop by and examine or inspect the vehicle that you would be interested in bidding on.

While online auto auctions do sound appealing, mostly because of their convenience, there is nothing like attending a real, live auto auction. In fact, it is often recommended that those who want to buy a used car from a used car auction attend a live one. Live auto auctions are nice as you are able to choose which auctions you would like to attend. This means that if you live in a specific area, like the Chicago area, you can choose to attend a local used car auction, instead of one that is located too far away. You also have the option of choosing to attend a free used car auction or one that requires the payment of an admission fee; the decision is yours to make.

Perhaps, the greatest benefit of buying a used car from a live used car auction is the fact that you are able to see the car for yourself. In fact, you can often do more than just see the car. Many used car auction houses or companies have scheduled inspection sessions. These sessions are where you are able to inspect each used car that you may be interested in buying, inside and out.

Of course, the decision as to whether you would like to buy a used car from a live used car auction or an online used car auction is yours to make, but you should know that many car owners report success when buying from a live auto auction. For starters, you may want to check out the live used car hosted by North Shore Auto Auction. Should you not find what you are looking for, you can then continue to examine your other options; options that may include online used car.

How Online Video Can Help Businesses ... - Video Marketing Tactics

HERE are more reasons why businesses must tap the power of online video to their marketing strategies. According to Alexa, a website ranking firm, video giant YouTube alone enjoys nearly 450 million visits per month. Each minute, over 48 hours of video information is uploaded to YouTube and more than 3 billion videos are being viewed everyday on the site.

These are very impressive figures indeed. Well, here is something more important to medium and small startups that are trying to compete with other businesses on the Net.

Next to Google, YouTube comes second as the most popular and most used search engine in the globe. Moreover, videos are indexed by Google which means that videos will often appear on the topmost page of each search result ? a spot where most businesses shell out huge cash to be located.

Users can also connect and interact with videos on this popular website, enabling them to give feedbacks and allowing small online firms the chance to promote brand new prospects and tie-ups through comments and even back links.

Online video is easily disseminated and shared via other social networking websites, like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, reaching more consumers and expanding the volume of potential views.

One of the benefits of incorporating videos is that it boosts a website?s name and presence and the brand it is promoting by giving in-town clients and Internet shoppers a new method of seeing another side of the owner and the site that the company is hosting.

This is very crucial in today?s trend because online competition has turned global no matter how small entrepreneurs think of their business and there is actually so little that sets aside one business from another in the same niche.

One of the most important things to consider is that businesses stand out through the creation of engaging and informative video. This provides would-be clients the chance to be educated about the people running a business and it also creates a connection between clients and the site owners.

In other words, businesses create videos about anything that gives their clients a sense of who they are and how they do what they do. Online video firms can upload a video that will simply introduce its staff or present a video that will show the people how to accomplish a certain task with one of its products.

Why Your Waist Exercise Routine Will Fail, Part I | New Health and ...

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

I have some bad news. Your waist exercises are eventually going to fail you. Most workout plans do, and for a number of different reasons: boredom, frustration, inadequate results, plateaus, or just simple ineffectiveness.

There?s good news, however: there are 4 ways to bulletproof your waist exercises to ensure they don?t fail. Instead, your routine can continue to sculpt your body, help your lifestyle, and improve your health. We?re going to discuss the initial two tactics here, and the last two in Why Your Waist Exercise Routine Will Fail, Part II.

Let?s get started

The Failure of Traditional Programming

Traditional waist exercise routines usually fail because they?re discontinued. This generally occurs for a couple of reasons: boredom and perceived ineffectiveness.

Nearly all exercise programs are extremely boring. ?Do 100 crunches every day for a year.? Yeah, right. Just thinking about it is enough to put me to sleep.

Even for hard-core exercise enthusiasts that happen to be game enough to hang in there with a obnoxiously boring exercise routine for awhile, most sooner or later quit simply because the routine loses its perceived effectiveness. In plain english, the exercise routines no longer apparently work.

The body adjusts to the stresses it experiences ? e.g. ?100 crunches a day? ? so that it is able to handle those stresses. The end result is that your own body will develop just enough to handle 100 crunches but no further.

This is called a ?plateau? and can be incredibly frustrating. How does a person climb past plateaus? I?m glad you asked.

Mix it Up

The first key to ensuring the success of your waist exercise routine is to make use of variety. Mix and match a range of exercises in different combinations so that you rarely do the same routine twice. I suggest programming the same routine once every 1-4 months if only in the interests of tracking improvement, which I?ll explore in further detail below.

For example, let?s say you?re doing waist exercises 4 days every week, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. One week?s schedule might look like this:

Monday ? 4 rounds for time of: 5 push ups, 10 bicycle crunches, 15 air squats

Tuesday ? as many rounds as possible (?AMRAP?) in 10 minutes, where each round is: 4 rocket jumps, 7 overhead squats, 12 butterfly situps

Thursday ? for time: 10 lying leg extensions, 15 air squats, 20 butterfly situps, 25 mountain climbers, 35 crunches

Friday ? 7-to-1 lying leg raises and burpees (e.g. 7 lying leg raises, 7 burpees; 6 LLR, 6 burpees; 5 LLR, 5 burpees; etc to 1 LLR, 1 burpee)

The next week will feature four completely different workouts which may or may not feature some of the above exercises.

Just by mixing it up and keeping your waist exercise routine varied, you not only will see continued results but you?ll remain engaged and interested, which is key to keeping you committed to your program.

Short and Intense

I know very few people that look forward to a daily hourlong workout. Not only is it harder to plan long workouts, but it makes it that much more likely you?ll quit. Even more importantly, it?s not the amount of time you work out that matters, it?s the workout?s intensity.

To put it another way, it?s more difficult to sustain the intensity required for 60 minutes than it is for 5-10.

The easiest way to carve your midsection into a gazeworthy midsection is to keep your waist exercise routine short and intense. Give 100% of your sweat and effort for 5-10 minutes and you?ll start seeing results very rapidly.

If you?re just getting started with your waist exercises, then you should make an effort to be sweating pretty heavily by the end of your workout. After a few weeks you should be targeting significant discomfort: muscle fatigue, heavy breathing, and sweating like crazy. The more intense the session, the better your results will be.

The caveat here is you should of course observe strict form and never work through ?bad? pain, like swelling, chest pain, joint pain, etc.

In Part II we?ll cover the last two tactics you can use to make your waist exercises potent and enjoyable.

Fed judge considers if pharmacies must sell Plan B (AP)

TACOMA, Wash. ? A federal judge is considering whether Washington state can require pharmacies to stock and sell Plan B or other emergency contraceptives, even in the face of religious objections by druggists who believe they destroy human life.

U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton heard closing arguments Wednesday in a lawsuit that claims state rules violate the constitutional rights of pharmacists by requiring them to dispense such medicine. The state requires pharmacies to dispense any medication for which there is a community need and to stock a representative assortment of drugs needed by their patients.

Ralph's Thriftway in Olympia, Wash., and two licensed Washington pharmacists sued in 2007, saying that dispensing Plan B would infringe on their religious beliefs because it can prevent the implantation of a fertilized egg. The state says the requirements are legal because they apply neutrally to medicines and pharmacies, and that they promote a government interest ? the timely delivery of medicine, including Plan B, which becomes less effective as time passes.

The judge blocked the state dispensing rule in 2007, finding that it would violate the plaintiffs' freedom of religion. But a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel overruled him, saying that he applied the wrong legal standard and that the rule appeared constitutional because it was neutral and did not directly target religious views.

The appellate court sent the case back to Leighton, telling him to apply the correct standard. He held an 11-day trial to flesh out the matter, and in court Wednesday, he expressed little patience for the state's enforcement of the rules, which he said reminded him of the federal government's arbitrary enforcement of the now-repealed rule against gays serving openly in the military.

The issue is more important than many other freedom-of-religion cases, such as those concerning religious dress or other ceremonial matters, he said.

"The question of life and death is serious," he thundered at an attorney for the state. "It's not facial hair, it's not a burka. ... I do not know when life begins, but I will not denigrate somebody's view of when life begins."

Leighton said he would rule in a couple weeks, and that he intended to frame his opinion in a way that would encourage the 9th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court to address whether pharmacists have a due-process right to refuse to provide medicine that they believe can take a life.

"Somebody at higher pay and higher station will decide this issue," he said. "I'll tee it up."

Plan B had been at the center of the state's decision in 2007 to adopt the Washington Board of Pharmacy's dispensary requirements. The drug, which has a high dose of medicine found in birth-control pills, is effective in preventing pregnancy if a woman takes it within 72 hours of unprotected sex.

Individual pharmacists are allowed to pass a prescription to another druggist in the same store, provided the order is not delayed. But that leaves no option for a lone pharmacist or a pharmacy owner with religious objections to a particular drug.

The pharmacists "can violate their core religious beliefs and participate in the taking of a human life, or they can lose their license," lawyer Kristen Waggoner said during her closing argument.

The pharmacists argued they can easily and quickly refer customers to nearby drug stores willing to sell the drug, but women's rights groups said that may not be the case in rural areas. It might also be difficult for those with disabilities if their pharmacists decide not to dispense it for personal reasons, they said.

Waggoner noted business exemptions that allow pharmacies not to stock a drug, including low demand, high cost, insurance concerns, and security reasons in cases where stocking a drug such as the addictive painkiller oxycodone could increase risk of theft. If the state allows pharmacies not to stock a drug for non-religious reasons, it should also allow them not to stock a drug for religious ones, she argued.

Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire, who supports the dispensary requirements, has rejected a compromise that would have allowed druggists to refer patients to other pharmacies for reasons of conscience.

A group that includes HIV patients has intervened in the case on the state's behalf, arguing that if pharmacies can refuse to dispense Plan B for religious reasons, some might also refuse to dispense AIDS medications, for example.

According to filings in the case, eight states have rules requiring pharmacists to dispense all drugs. But most of those don't require pharmacies to stock Plan B or similar drugs, so pharmacies in those states wouldn't be required to dispense them, the plaintiffs argue.

Waggoner noted that the state showed no interest in rigidly enforcing the rule until groups such as Planned Parenthood began filing complaints and sending test-shoppers and picketers to pharmacies to see if they would dispense Plan B. She said it indicated the state's true objective was to stamp out religious objection to the drug, an idea she called "repugnant to the Constitution."

Hospital pharmacies in the state do not fall under the rules, which govern retail, outpatient pharmacies, and they can refuse to dispense certain drugs for reasons of conscience. Catholic hospitals won't dispense Plan B except in cases of rape, Leighton noted.

That makes the state's argument about promoting access to the drug a "red herring," he said.

"The poor people who rely on emergency rooms don't get the so-called benefit of the rule," he said. "It's riddled with exceptions and holes. It's Swiss cheese."

The state's lawyers argued that exemptions to the rule increase the accessibility of drugs because it helps pharmacies stay competitive.

Plan B is kept behind the counter but is available without a prescription to anyone over 17. Federal regulators recently recommended that it be sold to anyone regardless of age, but the Obama administration overruled its own experts in December, outraging women's rights groups and many in the president's own party.

(AP) ? U.S. factories grew in January at the fastest pace in seven months, boosted by a rise in new orders. And builders ended a poor year for construction by spending more on homes and projects for the fifth straight month.

The reports bolster other data showing the U.S. economy started the year strong.

The Institute for Supply Management, a trade group of purchasing managers, said Wednesday that its manufacturing index rose last month to 54.1 from 53.1 in December. Readings above 50 indicate expansion.

Consumers are buying more cars and trucks, while businesses ordered more machinery and other equipment. That has driven manufacturing, which expanded for the 30th straight month.

Both new orders and order backlogs rose to nine-month highs. Increasing order backlogs suggest manufacturers are lacking the capacity to meet demand. That could mean more growth in production and employment in the near future, economists said.

Export orders also rose, a sign that U.S. manufacturers haven't yet been affected by Europe's slowing economy.

"This is a very encouraging report on manufacturing activity that shows particular strength in leading indicators," said John Ryding, an economist at RDQ Economics.

The report followed other healthy readings on manufacturing in China, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Growing global demand for factory goods sent markets higher. The Dow Jones industrial average jumped 141 points in morning trading. Broader indexes also rose.

"A raft of business surveys around the world ... have signaled a better than expected start to 2012 for many countries," said Chris Williamson, chief economist at Markit, a financial information provider.

Separately, the Commerce Department said spending on construction projects rose 1.5 percent in December, the fifth straight monthly gain. That pushed spending to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $816.4 billion, the highest level in 20 months.

The gains coincide with other signs that show the troubled housing industry may be improving. Builders are more confident after seeing more interest in homes, and single-family home construction rose in the final three months of last year.

Still, the construction industry remains weak. Spending on all building projects in 2011 was just $787.4 billion. That's 2 percent lower than the previous year and roughly half the level economists consider healthy.

The best indication of the U.S. economy's health will come Friday, when the government reports on January hiring and unemployment.

Economists expect the economy added 155,000 net jobs, the seventh straight month of solid hiring. The unemployment rate is expected stay for the second month at 8.5 percent, near a three-year low.

Factories are still adding jobs but at a slower pace than in December, according to the ISM report.

Manufacturing output has jumped in recent months. Auto sales have rebounded from the spring, when Japan's earthquake disrupted supply chains and fewer cars were available on dealer lots.

Businesses also ordered more big-ticket manufactured items in December, the government said last week. And orders for so-called core capital goods, which are a good measure of businesses' investment plans, reached an all-time high last month.

Factory output rose in December by the most in a year, according to the Federal Reserve. Production rose for goods used in the early stages of manufacturing, such as metals, wood products and construction materials. That suggests the output of finished goods will pick up.

Still, economists are concerned that a key source of factory growth could wither in the coming months.

They note that a key reason the economy grew at an annual rate of 2.8 percent in the final three months of last year was that was companies restocked their supplies at a robust pace. That restocking is likely to slow in the first three months of this year.

Unless consumer spending picks up, businesses won't be able to sell off that extra inventory, and may have to cut back on future orders.

Consumers have been weighed down by wages that haven't kept pace with inflation.

Most economists expected the combination of weaker inventory growth and tepid consumer spending will lead to slower growth in the January-March quarter. Many are predicting just 2 percent annualized growth in that stretch.
